The family business, which has existed since the 19th century, is to be continued in a new form as a guest house and meeting place. Based on the magnificent nature of the national park, the spacious outdoor area with meadow, stream and forest as well as the fascinating excursion possibilities in the surrounding area, the almost 150-year-old accommodation business is to be revitalised as the Schwollbachhof. The concept, construction and operation follow the principle of sustainability and prioritise practical climate protection. For this reason, the existing building is to be given optimum thermal insulation, the heating is to be operated with state-of-the-art heat pump technology, electricity is to be generated via a photovoltaic system and as much wood as possible is to be used as a renewable and carbon-storing raw material.

This is a new beginning, as all four of Lydia and Helmut Manz’s children decided to take different paths decades ago. They completed training and study programmes outside the catering industry and embarked on successful careers in completely different disciplines. Today, they live in New Zealand, France, southern Germany and on the lower Nahe. After the death of their parents, they decided to carry on the Schwollen legacy and develop it into a new centrepiece.
The opening is planned for autumn 2025.
