Helmut opens a small engine workshop in the house. The grocer's shop closes and the old stable is modernised. Lydia keeps the hotel buzzing in the 1970s and 1980s.

August and Frieda continue to grow the family business with its accommodation, grocery shop, mill and bakery despite adverse times and circumstances.
